Airpollution is a big menace that the city of New York is facing. Thepollution has been majorly brought about by the following causessulphur dioxide, elemental carbon, nitrogen oxide and fineparticulate. Despite the various laws passed to ensure themetropolitan experiences fresh and clean air the city is stillexperiencing effects of pollution. The emissions coming from motorvehicles contribute to the contamination of the air. Pollution wouldoccur when the air is exposed to harmful gasses, dust, and smoke(Shmool,Kubzansky, Ito, Dotson-Newman, Spengler, Shepard &amp Clougherty,2014).These factors make it difficult for the inhabitants of the city tosurvive as the air is polluted. Carbon dioxide is the leadingcontributor to air pollution. When fossil fuels are burned, theyproduce high levels of carbon dioxide. The air pollution usually haseffects on the human beings, as some individuals suffer fromallergies. The citizens may suffer from chronic respiratory diseasesdue to the pollution. Continuous exposure to air pollution affectsthe lungs of growing kids making them experience medical conditionsas they grow up.

InCamillus, one of the illegal drugs is Marijuana and is not acceptedfor its consumption. The problem associated with use of drugs ismostly addiction. The addicts suffer from addiction and they cannotlive normal lives without having the drugs in the system. Someaddicts in the resent past have died when overdosing on heroine.Diseases associated with continued use of heroin may cause a severedamage to the brain. It also affects other vital organs of the body,for instance the kidney. However, there is an attempt torehabilitate the addicts by taking them to rehabs where they gethelp. It helps the addicts recover from the addiction. It may taketime, however if their proper support from family members and themedical team, they can drastically improve the recovery of thepatient.

Environmentalhealth refers to the aspects of human health determined byenvironmental factors. It involves analyzing and controllingenvironmental factors with a potential of affecting health. Thesefactors may be chemical, physical, biological or could be external tohuman. It aims at establishing supportive health environment.

Ecologicalsystems theory as a framework identifies five environmental systemsin which people interact. They include Microsystem which consists ofgroups and institutions that directly impacts on child developmentlike schools, religious institutions, family, and peers. Mesosystemis a microsystem interconnection such as teachers and familyrelationship, family and child peers’ relationship while exosystemis the link between social settings (where a person lacks an activerole) and the immediate individual context. Macro system defines howindividual perceives life and life transformations. It explains theculture in which personalities live and finally chronosystem as anenvironmental system is a socio-historic circumstance that affects apattern of environmental activities and transitions of life course(Schreuder, 2016).

EnvironmentalHazard

Anenvironmental hazard is a state, event or substance which canadversely affect the natural environment or people’s health. Thereare four types of environmental hazards which are chemicalsdescribed by intoxications which cause environmental damage such asanthropogenic, natural carcinogens and chemical elements. Physicalhazards such as electromagnetic field, floods, lighting and noise,biological which encompass allergies, Ebola, cholera and finallypsychosocial (Gonzalès, &amp Parrott, 2012).

OccupationalSafety and Health

Thesignificance of Occupational Safety and Health seeks to enforcesafety of employees and hazard free working environment. Theadministration enacted an Act authorizing the concerned department toconduct inspections and create provisions for adjudications ofviolations.

CurrentIssues Affecting Environment

Currentissues affecting the environment are global warming that leads tochanges in weather patterns. Others include waste disposal,pollution, loss of biodiversity and genetic engineering which hasresulted in the introduction of toxins and diseases.
