Thepurpose of Heavenly Hands is to ensure that the minority people inthe city of Waterbury such as women and children have accessibilityto safe housing facilities (Dee, 2016). The Heavenly Hands is aninstitution that has existed for two decades and it has acted inconjunction with other governmental organization to enhance housingand urban development. Although the government has put measures toensure there are adequate and safe housing facilities, they have notbeen able to satisfy the whole population in the U.S. TheNon-governmental organization has focused on assisting homeless womenand children. With the organizational aim being to offer shelter, theinitiative from Heavenly Hands has managed to provide assistance tomore than 500 homeless people including women and children. Our majorchallenge as an institution is that there is a growing population ofhomeless women and children within the city of Waterbury. Therefore, the organization seeks to construct and expand housing facilities tomeet increasing demand.
Thecost of living is on the rise and so are the other essential needs. Most of the families have found themselves at a critical position inproviding the necessities and this has led to difficulties in living.Such families will experience very minimal time in facing thetermination of services or be in a position of being eradicated.Within the city of Waterbury, there is a need to provide housing andurban development. This is well illustrated by the PHA 5-Year andAnnual Plan project that will seek to minimize the problem ofhomeless children and women within the city (Dee, 2016). According tothe Heavenly Hands Foundation, they have come up with a strategy thatwill provide an answer to the scarcity of affordable housing for allpopulations more so the low-income families.
Inthe event of addressing the issue on housing shortage, the governmentagency has provided plans that will increase the number of homes thatare available for the Waterbury Housing Authority so as to meet thegrowing demand (Dee, 2016). One of the primary policy is to ensurethat there are affordable houses to families that depend on thefederal government of Waterbury regardless of the housing sizerequired. The authority has also conducted activities to affirm thatthere are fair housing. The program has ensured that those living inthe areas of poverty are given the opportunity of accessing the units(Dee, 2016). In 2002, the Heavenly Hands obtained about 130 vouchersthat enabled them to construct an additional unit (Dee, 2016). Thisillustrated that there is still a challenge in providing high-qualitypublic housing.
Itis with great concern that we would like to request for $ 100,000from the American Trust Fund Limited to enable the organization tofulfill its goals in the provision of safe housing units. The issueis much felt even at the national level, as the government togetherwith the Housing Authority of Waterbury has provided somejurisdiction on how to provide shelter (Dee, 2016). The housing unitsvary based on affordability, supply, quality, location and income. The organization mostly rely on donors and well-wishers for thesource of capital, but due to the adverse environmental conditionsfacing the homeless women and children, the enterprise seeks to meetthis basic need as soonest possible. Heavenly Hands will ensure thatthe money will be put to good use by providing safe homes for thevulnerable population. With improved housing conditions, theorganization will achieve their goals and there will be a reductionin the risk of death from unsafe situations that are on the streets. With the provision of safe housing through Heavenly Hands, thefoundation will ensure equity in the society as well as better livingconditions for the minority population. We would, therefore, like torequest American Trust Fund Limited to heed our call.
