Englishis one of the simplest and most common languages in the world. It canbe a primary or secondary language depending on which language achild was taught first. English has two different spheres writtenEnglish and spoken English. Spoken English, which at times may berefered to as English slang, is preferred by most people as comparedto written English because of its simplicity [ CITATION Ixo11 l 1033 ].Variousstrategies can be used to improve English whether oral, read orwritten. These strategies are outlined below.

Pre-EmergentInstructional Strategies

Speaking &amp Listening

Advocating for the use of English language during all forms of communication especially within the learning institution[ CITATION Fre08 l 1033 ].

Through this, the learners will be able to sharpen each other’s skills and pronunciations while they listen to each other’s pronunciations. This is a good way of encouraging student to student learning.

Reading

The tutor can help the students begin off the learning of English by first starting to teach them the alphabet, the vowels, and the consonants. They can also be taught simple words such as numbers one to ten in words[ CITATION Ixo11 l 1033 ].

Learning of English has to start with a basic which is learning the English alphabet which has 26 letters. From these letters, words are formed.

Writing

The tutor can instruct the student to copy various newspaper or headings on a blank piece of paper[ CITATION Ixo11 l 1033 ].

Through this, the tutor is developing letter curving and drawing skills which will help the student in writing.

The tutor can help the students formulate words in English by comparing them to the first language of the student[ CITATION Dan06 l 1033 ].

The student will understand English better once it is related to something he or she well understands.

Reading

The tutor can advance to forming words with the letters he or he taught in the pre-emergent stage. The words should be simple to pronounce and write[ CITATION Ixo11 l 1033 ].

Simplicity while beginning reading is the key to better understanding English.

Writing

The tutor will still to continue to instruct the student to copy various newspaper or headings on a blank piece of paper [ CITATION Ixo11 l 1033 ].

Through this, the tutor will continue to develop the letter curving and drawing skills which will assist the learner in improving their writing skills.

BasicInstructional Strategies

Justification

Speaking &amp Listening

The teacher will start using phrases and complex sentences while talking. The students will be required to research on the meaning of the phrases[ CITATION Ixo11 l 1033 ].

The student is now able to understand basic phrases and words. From this, they can understand the complex phrases.

Reading

The tutor can now introduce non-graphic but simple to read books to the students [ CITATION Ixo11 l 1033 ].

The students can be able to communicate using basic phrases and thus can do basic reading too.

Writing

The tutor can introduce the concept of creativity by asking and guiding the student to create basic descriptions of their house or other things they see around them[ CITATION Dan06 l 1033 ].

This develops their language use and skills by creating a space for them to play around with words.

IntermediateInstructional Strategies

Justification

Speaking &amp Listening

The instructor will continue using phrases and complex sentences while talking. The students will continue to research on the meaning of the phrases[ CITATION Ixo11 l 1033 ].

This helps the student understand the language more.

Reading

The students will continue to introduce simple to read books to the students [ CITATION Fre08 l 1033 ].

The students are now able to do their reading, and with more books, they can improve their reading skills.

Writing

The tutor will continue to help enhance the concept of creativity by asking the student to create basic descriptions of their house or other things they see around them[ CITATION Ixo11 l 1033 ].

This continues to develop their language use and skills by creating a space for them to play with their words
