Growthrefers to measurable changes in size, physique and body compositionand various systems of the body. Maturation is the progressiontowards the mature state. The processes of growth and maturation arerelated and both influence physical development. According to thisarticle physical growth just like other aspects of development,results from a complex interplay between genetic and environmentalfactors. According to this journal growth rate of stature is highestduring the first year of life then gradually declines until the onsetof the adolescent growth spurt of about 10 years in girls and 12years in boys. With the spurt growth rate increases reaching a peakof about 12 years in girls and 14 years in boys, and then graduallydeclines and eventually ceases with the attainment of adult stature(Manna,2014).

Child/Adolescent Development

Thisquote indicates that at the time of childhood, as boys and girls growresulting in longer levers and increased muscle tissue, both have thepotential to increase their potential. During adolescence, males showa steady increase in performance. For girls their performance havethe tendency to reach plateau around the time of puberty and declinethereafter.

Asa community member this article helps me to understand the fact thatwhy boys are stronger than girls. According to this article strengthshows a steady increase during childhood, with boys being slightlystronger than girls. Boys continue to improve during adolescence,whereas girls strength level off and tend to decrease.
