Ithink Dawn has introduced herself in a concise way concerning hername, occupation, education, family life and leisure activities sheengages with but the way sentences are structured they don’t give agood flow of the information. First, there is much repetition of “Ihave.” Then, I believe that some sentences need to be joined togive a concrete meaning. For example, she should accede to the twosentences talking about her degrees and the time she has spent inschool. Additionally, I think that an introduction ought to have athesis statement to give a hint on what the paper intends to do.Therefore, I propose that she adds a thesis statement with regards tothe three topics. She should add something like this “In additionto re-introducing myself I will discuss the importance of pediatricgrowth and development knowledge. As well, I will explain thedifferences of communicating with the child and family versus theadult client and importance of including culture and age-appropriateinterventions in the care of the kids. This discussion will be basedon my forthcoming pediatric clinical know-how.”

Dawn’sinput concerning the importance of Pediatrics’ knowledge on growthand development is reasonable. The reason is that she acknowledgesthe importance of the knowledge regarding frequent changes that occurto the growth and development of children (Chen et al., 2014). Aswell, Dawn explains that the knowledge is of great use to providersof health to quickly recognize the risk factors and signs withhealthy growth and development of a particular age group. Also, sheacknowledges the value of the knowledge in improving thecommunication of the child and the family with the providers(Chiocca, 2015). However, I think Dawn should have given at least oneexample to show how health providers would use this knowledge intheir future pediatric experience. For example, she would havedemonstrated that nurses could use this knowledge to guide andcounsel parents on how to feed and handle their children at differentdevelopment stages (Chen et al., 2014).

Dawnhas not raised the difference that may exist when communication iscarried out to the child versus the adult client. There existchallenges when communicating with a child as opposed to when thehealth provider is talking to an adult. The adult can discuss anddiscourse their experiences and communicate their feelings to theirhealth providers (Chiocca, 2015). Correspondingly, adults areeloquent, accurate, experienced more informed and thus can articulatetheir issues openly. On the other hand, children tend to bethoughtful and reflective and thus cannot communicate their feelingappropriately. They also lack experience and may not fully conversantwith health challenges they are facing (Chiocca, 2015). The reason isthat they may not have encountered similar or related healthsituations.

Dawncontribution about the significant of understanding the patientculture in providing quality health care is acceptable. The reason isthat it is valuable in understanding the cultural dynamics and assistin making communication especially because the nurse is supposed toplay the role of an advocate (Dunn, 2013). However, Dawn should haveincluded the fact the understanding culture improve the outcomes ofhealth care process. Besides, having sufficient information on theculture of the patient contributes to the eradication of all ethnicand racial health disparities that may delay or hinder the efficienthealthcare delivery process. It has also been observed that ethnicand racial minorities always have increased mortality and morbidityespecially in the case of chronic diseases (Dunn, 2013).Consequently, understanding such observations may enable the nurse,and other healthcare providers enhance their response to suchindividuals by putting in place more firm action.
