Firstly, they are theones suffering the most hence understanding their problems would bethe best approach towards yielding competent results (Fraley &Hudson, 2014). Secondly, both research questions revolve around thechallenges facing the patients. In such case, understanding the levelof care the population gets would help to know whether or not thenurses are equipped with competent as well as necessary knowledge,attitudes, and skills. Further, data collected from the populationwould help to implement effective evidence-based techniques for theefficient Transitional Care program for the patients rather than whenrelying on another population (Fraley & Hudson, 2014).
Nevertheless,obtaining a sample from the above-mentioned population has multiplechallenges. Firstly, following the age of the subjects, it would bedifficult to get participants who can appropriately respond to boththe questionnaire and the interview. Well-equipped, as well asknowledgeable people would be needed to ensure data collected isvalid and unbiased. Secondly, the providence of incentives can beaffected (Ritchie, Lewis & Elam, 2013). Unlike the youths,dealing with aging population can be troublesome. In most cases,researchers find it challenging to learn the various ways ofinteracting with them. For instance, some researchers tend to haveincentives that do not correlate with likes.
Further,reaching the subjects can be tiresome. Most of the potential subjectslocate in distinct places after being released from the hospital. Insuch case, more expenses would be incurred to get hold of all therequired subjects. Lastly, it would troublesome to formulate aquestionnaire as well as conduct an interview (Ritchie, Lewis &Elam, 2013). Sometimes researchers are forced to alter or evencompletely change the questions, an approach that would affect theexpected results.
Notably,various methods can employ towards addressing the challengesencountered while obtaining a sample from the researchablepopulation. Apparently, the nine essentials, which portray theknowledge and skills required for all nurses, can fit well in theresearch to help researchers emerge with an effective sample. Thefirst essential, for instance, involves having background knowledgeof humanities and sciences. In such case, researchers understand theintriguing subjects especially their bio-psychosocial behaviors andquality improvement (Choy, 2014). The second essential, which dealswith systems and organizational leadership, helps researchers toethically approach the researchable population. The third essentialinvolves quality and safety advancement (Choy, 2014). The essentialprovides multiple ways of approaching the subjects while maintaininghigh standards. In such case, the Elderly Heart Failure patientswould feel protected. The fourth essential involves integration andtranslation of scholarship into practice. The essential recognizessolving problems, especially among the research subjects, which alsomake researchers change agent.
Further,the use of relevant technologies to promote care would work besttowards safeguarding the interests of the subjects, which areemphasized by the fifth essential. The approach can apply well whilechoosing the incentives for the research. The sixth essentialinvolves advocacy and health policy, which requires researchers tohave the potential to intervene appropriately in cases of health careand also employ advocacy measures to influence quality outcomes(Twigg & McCullough, 2014). Further, through the seventhessential, researchers can be able to work as a team. For instance,communicating and consulting with multiple health care professionalswould help to understand the target population better. The eighthessential, however, involves population health and clinicalprevention towards improving health. It would help researchers toplan, manage and even deliver to the target population (Twigg &McCullough, 2014). Nevertheless, the last essential requires thatnurses and even researchers to have the knowledge of handling allsectors of life given that nursing is a multidimensional field.Clearly, the utilization of all the nine essentials would promisehigher performances while using the most appropriate population.
