Thus, this essay aims to establish the preferred learningenvironment that yields more benefits to students, by comparingaspects of flexibility, comprehensiveness, and knowledge retention inon-campus and online classes, with the designated audience being highschool students transiting to college.

First,the schedule of on-campus classes requires students to be present ina physical classroom setting to listen to a tutor or learn accordingto how he/she instructs. It implies that once the students are out ofthe classrooms, they cannot have a learning session due to theinaccessibility of the professor. On the other hand, online classesare flexible, and any environment is convertible into a classroomsince the student can access and view course materials over theinternet. However, thecomprehensiveness of the content differs in the sense that studentswho attend on-campus classes have the materials delivered by word ofmouth, or in an audio or visual presentation. On the contrary,instructors prepare comprehensive and well-illustrated notes forinternet classes to accommodate the demonstrations made in aclassroom setting. Due to the limited time of class sessions, someconcepts might be explained shallowly to students compared to onlineclasses where all concepts are covered exhaustively. As such, takinginternet class increases in-depth understanding of complex conceptsbecause of the opportunity to revisit the reading materials comparedto on-campus classes where one has a likelihood of forgettingpresented ideas.
